I recently finished Majora's Mask, and loved it. But I found the final boss to be a bit weak. I managed to collect all the masks and ended up getting to the boss with the "final mask", and all I had to do was target it and use the sword beam.

Now I am starting to recall that the final zelda boss to some of the other games are also kind of weak. The only real difference between a normal boss in a zelda game and the final boss is just the number of forms it changes into.

I haven't played any of the zelda games that came after this, but am curious if this trend continues? Does anyone know?

It's actually normal for final bosses to not be overly difficult, but rather take a long time to beat due to multiple forms. My memory is a little fuzzy since I've not played a Zelda game for a while, but yeah, I think that's a pretty common trend.

RPGs are the worst for this. So many fights go on and on because the boss decides to let you beat it a few times before actually trying to stop you...

So... you want one thread where people can praise the game, and another thread where people can bash it. For the same game.. I find that.. odd, for a forum based discussion community, such as this. I mean, it just sounds like you have a group of people who love the game, and praise it, and then somebody comes along and disagrees with their opinion, and says that they don't like it, so then he gets shunned away, and told, hey, we love the game and don't want to hear anything bad about it, so go over there, so we can just sit here and praise the game by ourselves.

Now, I'm not saying that's what you did, thought, or it's what happened. I'm just saying, I don't see the point of separating game threads into different opinion threads. Just seems odd to me. Especially when we are all talking about the same game. I mean, if we were all making personal bashes against each other, then yeah, I could see how that gets out of hand. But when it's just about the merits of the game itself.. I don't get the point of that. I mean, that almost sounds more "scandalous" than the opinion itself, to be honest. At least, I think so.

That's not it, Lawn. It's just that 'majora's mask sucks' is such an uncommon opinion, that your detailed writeup deserved its own topic. I actually knew that you hated the game and was going to ask you to write on that topic anyway. Try googling that phrase, and you'll only find a few results from major sites: one thread at IGN, one at Giant Bomb, and a few others. I guarantee you that we're going to be among those search results in a couple of days, possibly even at the top :).

It's my job as an admin to attract traffic to the site, and this will surely bring in some Zelda fans wanting to beat you up for hating Majora's Mask. :p

Well, if you're goal was to 'attract traffic' to the site, then, again, you'd be better off doing my other recommendations to you (which will work out so much better for you), other than just separating threads into more threads, which is just going to yield the same results in the end as before. You didn't make a change in that, as the searh results will be the exact same, as I've expalined before. So, if this move was just to 'attract traffic', then my response will be the same as it was in the other thread, to be completely honest. Thus, I wasn't a fan of it then, and I'm not a fan of it now.

Especially this time, as this time it feels more like you wanted to keep all of the 'bad' opinions away from the 'good' opinions of this game. Which just seems silly and ridiculous, to be honest. I mean, asking one to help out with adding something like that is one thing, yeah, that's cool and everything. But to do it the way that you did it seems shady to me. I mean, it honestly feels like that whole "yay, we love the game. wait, what, you don't, then get out of here so we can enjoy it without you", type of thing. And instead of promoting discussion and attention and drawing people to it (which is a good thing, and will help out when searching, as it picks up results no matter what thread it's in), it instead promotes separation and distance, not only between the content and opinions, but also the users as well.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I get why you did it. I just think it was done the wrong way. It wasn't handled right, is all. And I felt it sent the wrong message, and won't change the search results at all. Especially for something that you yourself said is 'uncommon' and most people won't search for anyways. But when they do, it'll get pick up wherever it's found. Again, doesn't matter if its in this thread or another, it'll get picked up. I mean, why have a bunch of threads for each opinion on one game. Seems odd. There are ways to improve your 'search results' as well. Tags and keywords and so forth. As well as the other ideas I pointed out last time, among others.

Also, this time, you didn't even ask, you just did it. I mean, I would of written it up properly if you had asked. That post was just a quickly thrown together loose thoughts of mine that doesn't even cover everything. It's not the whole story. It was just a quick recap of my feelins on it. I could of written it out in much more detail and indepth, and presented it all proper like. But, to be honest, at this time, because of this, I'm not feeling up to it right now. Maybe later down the road, but for now, the whole subject of Majora's Mask has just given me a big headache over the years. Like I said, I like to think that it doesn't exist. So, another time... when I feel up to it.

Anyways, just so we are clear, I'm not upset or angry or anything. I just don't agree with how this all went down or how it was handle. I'm 'just saying' is all. That's it. Just saying. I mean, I'm all for higher traffic and all. And I've certainly held my own on this whole Majora's Mask subject with some die hard fans of the game. In fact, I've even changed some peoples opinion on it too, to be honest. Not completely. It's not like they went from absolutely loving the game to absouletly hating it. But they did stop praising it so much, and started to see the flaws of the game much more apparantly, to the point where even they have told other die hard fans to cool it down with the praises, as well as got into some debates and discussions with them over the subject. I didn't tell them to say that or start that with others tho, as everybody is free to have their own opinion. They just did that on their own.

But yeah, higher traffic and discussions are great, and I like being a part of them. Especially when everybody is being civilized, and only keeping it on the product and not the other person. For instance, I would never bash you or anybody here because they liked this game or that. I'll just say, as I have with this, that I don't like it, for this this this and that, etc.etc.. Keeping it on the game itself, and not on the other people in the conversation, as once people start bashing each other, that's when things can get out of hand, and blow up quick. Especially for a game like this, with so many die hard fans. I still can't figure out why so many people love this game, but they do. I just see way too much wrong with the game to enjoy it, so I don't care for it. It wasn't fun for me. It's not 100% terrible or 'the worst game ever', but it's definitely not a Top 10 game, nor a Top 10 Zelda game. Top 15, sure. I wouldn't put it dead last. But I also won't over-rate it either.

Lawn... you like to write long posts - and considering the length of your post it really should just be moved. I mean, this isn't because no one wants to hear what you have to say. It is because it at times comes across as tl;dr. Like the post just before me kind of... rambles? That post could be at least halved, if not cut down to a third of it's size because a lot of it repeats. So yeah rather than have people just completely skip your post so as to maintain the cohesiveness of the thread... you get your own thread for people who honestly want to invest in your opinion. It isn't an attack or anything.

Majora's Mask is the best Zelda's series game, and probably one of the top 5 games ever done. It is darker and sadder than Ocarina of Time. The gameplay was really innovative and I loved/hated the idea of running against the clock. The game is full of mystery and I felt a connection with the story that I had never had before.

I never played this game on the N64, I remember reading a gamepro or gameinformer article on the game saying you only had three days to beat it, the mere thought of being on a timer really turned me away from ever getting it. Its only thanks to the Zelda collection on the gamecube that I finally got this, played it and enjoyed it greatly.

As far as Zelda goes, it was a fun enough experience and unique spin on some certain aspects. As a game with a coherent plot at some points it felt wanting and some of it felt a little not-well or entirely thought out. It had a fantastic 3-day system and the rewinding to get everything right definitely felt wonderful. That being said, some of the areas felt too linear and the designs kind of felt re-used at points. I still thoroughly enjoyed it; and I would praise it.

And no, I'm not a OOT fanboy just hatin' on MM like the majority I see. Link to the Past was my favorite. I enjoyed OOT as other games. I just feel Majora's Mask should have been a later release down the line. It felt mis-timed. I am one of very few people who feel this way; but that's just my opinion.

That being said, MM still had some excellent music, some creepy insinuations and it was a nicer, darker, take on the lighter Zelda franchise.

Unfortunately, @Lawnachaun left the site over this issue. Disappointing, because he was a great community member.
